The Annual General Meeting of the Riverina Racing Pigeon Federation Inc. Wagga Wagga Branch was held on Sunday 19 February 2012 commencing at 4pm. Following reports from the President, Secretary and Treasurer outgoing President Paul Ryan declared all positions vacant.
Nominations for President were received for Col Campbell and Paul Ryan with Paul Ryan declining the nomination. Col Campbell was declared Club President for 2012. Lewis Blume was re-elected Club Secretary unopposed. The highlight of the evening was the changing of the guard for the role of Treasurer. Nominations were received for John Clay and Paul Ryan. Paul Ryan was elected by unanimous vote with John Clay being the first to offer his congratulations declaring that after 34 years in the role he was happy to hand the reins over to someone else. Paul Ryan moved that the Club recognise the work done by John and his contribution to the Club.
A General Meeting followed the AGM.
The Club race schedule for 2012 was passed at the meeting. Racing will start with a 5 week sprint series commencing about 16 June 2012 and follow a North West route through to Broken Hill. The final program will be published on this site in the near future.

2012 is Underway
Wagga Wagga Racing Pigeon Club welcomes to you to 2012. We start the season very mindful of what is happening in Victoria and we send our thoughts and support to our Victorian friends.
Today saw the first of our major fundraisers for the year with the Club holding a BBQ at Bunnings. It was a great club day with all members who were able lending their time to help cook and serve. We are grateful of the opportunity offered by Bunnings to raise valuable funds which help us to ensure the club can offer the members an affordable sport.
Happy workers at Bunnings, from left Ian Collins, Rob Neale, Lewis and Noeline Blume and 2 satisfied customers.
From left John Clay, Mel and Rob Neale.
This year we are planning to fly a North West route starting 16 June with a 5 week sprint series and finishing around 15 September at Broken Hill (approx 650km). As soon as the schedule is finalised I will post it on the website.
Our website received great support in 2011 with pigeon flyers from around the globe following our weekly posts during the race season. We will continue to post regular updates through out the year.
Happy New Year
Business end of the series under way
The WWRPC combined with Temora for racing from Girilambone on Tuesday 4 October 2011. This is an average fly of 42o km. Two races were flown, a Wagga Open and the Wagga Raffle Ring Race. The birds went up into good conditions at 0800 and cleared the point in no time. Flying was fast and most flyers were caught totally off guard with the first birds trapped into Wagga 1:03 pm covering the distance in 5 hours and 3 minutes.
Paul Ryan took the open race at an average speed on 1441 mpm with John Clay coming in second at 1422 mpm. No third place.
John Clay took the Raffle RIng Race at an average speed of 1260 mpm, Paul Ryan second 1221 mpm and Bill Boydell third 918 mpm.
Next week racing is from Bourke an average of 575 km.

Important Information Regarding the Stock Bird Auction and Trade Day – 6 November 2011
The sale organising committee have been closely monitoring the events that are unfolding in Victoria with the PVM1 virus. Given the seriousness of the situation and the advice of the various state Departments of Primary Industry we have made the decision (regrettably) to cancel the sale.
The generosity of the pigeon racing fraternity who willingly and freely donated birds to be sold was overwhelming and all indications were that it was going to be a very successful day. However we need to be good citizens in the sport and this virus needs to be contained.
Our sights are now firmly set on 2102 and over the coming weeks I will be contacting the donors to discuss our plans.
Regards
Lewis Blume, Secretary RRPF Wagga Wagga Branch.

John Clay won the Wagga Young Bird one bird race clocking in for an average of 1235.84 mpm.

Short Series Round Seven Race Report
Sunday 28 August saw the flying of the seventh round of the short series races. This weekend also marked the start of combined flying with Temora. 9 flyers from Wagga Wagga sent 95 birds accross three races. There was an open/combine race, a combine one bird race and the Wagga Wagga $1:00 ring race. All races were flown from Tottenham which is an average flying distance of 320 km.
The day started well with the birds released at 0930 into clear skies. There was a slight North East wind at the Wagga Wagga end which should have assisted the birds. Despite clearing well the returns were extremely dissapointing with only 13 birds clocked into Wagga on the day with five flyers presenting clocks.
Paul Ryan took the open race with an average of 1101.88 mpm, John Macikiewicz second 1087.75 and Joe Riley third 1022.30
John Clay clocked the only $1 ring race bird at an average of 1113.61 mpm
